CityBoy Movement targets five million registered voters ahead of 2027 polls

The City Boy Movement says it is targeting the registration of five million voters before November as part of a nationwide mobilisation drive to boost youth participation in the 2027 general election and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The movement disclosed this on Tuesday at its 2026 National Retreat, themed “Youth, Unity and Action,” held at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
Deputy Director-General for Policy, Research and Strategy, Bobo Akpapunam, said the movement had already built a database of more than 500,000 members and was embarking on a fresh nationwide membership validation and recruitment exercise across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“We’re aiming at 80,000 in all 36 states, aiming to get five million before the 1st of November. After we do that, the next step is going to get all of them PVCs,” Akpapunam said.
He explained that the initiative forms part of a strategy to transform the City Boy Movement into a data-driven political organisation capable of mobilising voters beyond the 2027 elections.
According to him, members would be profiled according to their occupations and skills to enable targeted empowerment programmes and improve grassroots engagement.

Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media and Deputy Director-General (Media, Communications and Public Affairs) of the movement, O’Tega Ogra, said the City Boy Movement had evolved from being a campaign platform into a nationwide youth advocacy organisation.
“This movement has grown from just being a vehicle for electing President Bola Tinubu to becoming a voice of youth advocacy across the country. We have matured, and now we have a structure across every ward and polling unit, every state, and across the country,” Ogra said.
