A coalition of civil society leaders from across Nigeria has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to remain focused on delivering high standards of governance despite criticisms.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, the team’s spokesperson, Declan Ihekaire, praised Adeleke’s administration for its commitment to fulfilling promises and implementing key initiatives across the state.
“The Adeleke-led government has demonstrated a strong commitment to its agenda, achieving significant milestones for the people of Osun State,” Ihekaire stated.
During their week-long visit, the civil society leaders toured major towns, including Ife, Ede, Ilesa, Osogbo, and Ifon Osun. They also engaged with residents across several local government areas to gauge public sentiment.
According to Ihekaire, the findings revealed overwhelming support for Adeleke’s administration, with residents expressing enthusiasm for his leadership and its impact on the state.
The team described the governor as a true agent of good governance, citing his grassroots influence and the broad popularity of his policies.
The leaders commended Adeleke for his focus on infrastructural development, human capital improvement, and a people-oriented approach to governance. However, they also emphasized the need for sustained efforts to uphold these standards and to remain undeterred by detractors.
“As advocates for good governance, we will continue to commend positive actions and criticize when necessary to ensure accountability,” Ihekaire added.
The team reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit the people while holding the government accountable to its promises.
