COAS approves redeployment of senior army officers

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the posting and appointment of senior Nigerian Army officers to key command, instructional, and staff positions across various formations and units. The move is aimed at enhancing leadership and improving operational effectiveness.
A statement signed on Sunday by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, said the redeployment affected Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, Brigade Commanders, and other critical appointments.
At the Army Headquarters, Major General A.A. Adeyinka was named Chief of Logistics (Army), Major General A.A. Adekeye became Chief of Personnel Management (Army), and Major General T.B. Ugiagbe was appointed Chief of Standard and Evaluation. Others are Major General A.A. Idris, who was posted as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), and Major General M.O. Erebulu, who became Provost Marshal (Army).
Other key appointments include Major General E.A. Anaryu as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport; Major General S.A. Akesode as Head of Mission, African Union Verification Mission in Ethiopia’s Tigray Region; and Major General J.E. Osifo as Director General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.
The new General Officers Commanding (GOCs) are Major General A.S.M. Wase, who takes over as GOC 1 Division/Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Major General C.R. Nnebeife, who becomes GOC 2 Division/Commander Sector 3 of the same operation.
Appointments for Army training institutions include Major General M.O. Ihanuwaze as Commandant, Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration; Major General K.O. Osemwegie as Commandant, Army Signal School; Major General A.J. Aliyu as Commandant, Nigerian Army Ordnance School; and Major General A.C. Adetoba as Commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.
Also affected are Brigade Commanders. Brigadier General M. Jimoh was moved to Headquarters 1 Brigade, Brigadier General N.E. Okoloagu was posted to 2 Brigade, and Brigadier General A.A. Bello assumed command at 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 Joint Task Force South South Operation DELTA SAFE.
The COAS charged the newly appointed officers to redouble their efforts in sustaining the ongoing fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security. He also reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of troops as a cornerstone of operational success.
