Lagos Commuters Left Stranded As Bus Drivers Embark On Strike

Many commuters were stranded in many parts of Lagos on Monday as commercial bus drivers under the aegis of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN) commenced a 7-day strike due to extortion by motor parks managers and touts.

In areas visited by WesternPost, stranded commuters were sighted trekking while few others resorted to patronising commercial motorcycle operators.
The few buses on the road were charging commuters twice the normal transport fares, forcing many to trek.
At Iyana Iba, Ijanikin and Agbara axis, commercial bus drivers were seen enforcing the strike.
