Computer village shut, heavy security as Tinubu commissions Redline Rail in Ikeja

Shops were closed in the popular Computer Village at the Ikeja area of Lagos, following the commissioning of the newly built Redline rail on Thursday.

President Bola Tinubu is billed to commission the redline rail, a project executed by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration in Lagos.

At about 12:30pm, WesternPost noticed that the shops closed to the venue of the commissioning were shutdown as customers and traders hanged around for possible re-opening after the commissioning.

Commuters were sighted trekking towards the popular Awolowo way from where they could get buses to their choice destinations.

Shops on the streets like Otigba, Akinremi, and Medical road were closed.

Although, WesternPost gathered from one of the traders that there was a circular from the government to them before today, asking them to close their shops from 8am to 2pm.

Meanwhile, few kilometres to the commissioning ground, heavy security agents were sighted preventing uninvited guests including unaccredited journalists from gaining access to the place.

Also, officials of the Lagos State Transportation Management Authority (LASTMA) were on ground controlling the traffic as mild traffic was on the Ikeja-Iyana Ipaja corridor. There was holdup along Ikeja towards Cement, Mangoro and Depomu underbridge.
