The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has dismissed a viral report alleging that the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, was suspended from the Conference.

In a statement on Thursday, Ogundoyin described the report—published by online platform TruthParrotNews on July 30, 2025—as false, misleading, and malicious. He clarified that no decision or announcement was made regarding any disciplinary action against the Osun Speaker.

He said the blog falsely claimed that Egbedun was suspended over allegations of insubordination and abuse of office. “There was no such suspension. No press conference was held in Ibadan or elsewhere, and no such pronouncement was made by me or any authorized representative of the Conference,” Ogundoyin stated.

The Conference, he stressed, operates as a credible and transparent body that adheres strictly to due process, especially in disciplinary matters. He affirmed that Speaker Egbedun remains a respected and active member of the Conference.

Expressing disappointment over the publication, the Conference labeled the report a “baseless fabrication lacking any journalistic integrity,” and urged media outlets to verify their stories before dissemination.

Ogundoyin demanded an immediate retraction and a public apology from TruthParrotNews, warning that legal action may follow if corrective measures are not taken.
