Consider hazard allowance for staff members, OYRTMA chairman urges Makinde

The chairman, Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, (OYRTMA), Dr Akintomide Fagbemi, has urged Governor Seyi Makinde to consider hazard allowance for the agency’s staff due to dangers inherent in their service.

Dr. Fagbemi made the appeal in Ibadan while commenting on the death of one of his officers, Jimoh Kehinde, who died on Tuesday afternoon at Idi Ape.

The OYRTMA boss who described the development as tragic and painful, urged the state governor to consider hazard, mechanical, climatic, environmental allowances, among others for them.

According to him, late Kehinde Jimoh, 48, died from heart attack on duty, adding that he did not fall from a commercial motorcycle as earlier reported.

“He was actually returning to the office on his motorcycle with two of his other colleagues when he had heart attack and died.

“Our officers who spend their time and life for the development of the state deserve to be given these allowances to encourage and take care of those areas mentioned.

“Our staff face a lot of hazard and danger in the course of duty. Some of the hazard include environmental, security risk, climatic hazard and so on.

“I am going to work on this issue with a view to make it a reality. And I believe our amiable governor will consider it in good faith for the wellbeing of the staff of the agency,” he said.

Dr. Fagbemi described late Kehinde Jimoh as a dutiful, dedicated and hardworking officer who spent three years in the service of the agency.
