Constituents laud Bonu’s grassroots impact after 1,000-day legislative ranking

Residents of Badagry Constituency 1 have commended a rating agency, Lagos Reporters for its 1,000-Day Performance Ranking of members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, praising the recognition of their representative, Hon. Dr. Solomon Saanu Bonu, who emerged seventh overall.
The independent assessment evaluated all 40 lawmakers based on constituency engagement, public accessibility, community development impact, and verified feedback from residents.
Reacting to the ranking, constituents described Hon. Bonu as a grassroots-oriented lawmaker whose initiatives have positively impacted lives across Badagry.
A resident of Badagry, Raji Olarenwaju Taofeek, applauded the exercise as objective, noting that the ranking reflects the visible projects and outreach programmes facilitated within the constituency. Another resident and vehicle repairer, Samson Deyon Mautin also hailed the lawmaker as “a man of the people” and urged him to remain steadfast in service.
A female trader and resident of Badagry, Mary Ganthonu congratulated Hon. Bonu and prayed for greater strength to deliver more dividends of democracy, while Ogunsanya Simeon, a community youth leader, said his performance “is speaking for itself,” expressing optimism about his political future.
A senior citizen and retireed civil servant, Wheto Williams Olatunji likewise described the lawmaker’s performance as commendable and expressed confidence in his continued relevance ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
Residents particularly highlighted his role in restoring electricity to Badagry West after seven years of blackout. The border community, which hosts the Seme and Owode international border posts, had endured prolonged power outages before the intervention.
The rating agency stated that the ranking followed months of fieldwork, inspections, and feedback across the 40 constituencies. It added that the initiative was designed to promote transparency, accountability, and performance tracking, while also identifying gaps such as limited visibility and public engagement in some constituencies.
