Human rights activist and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Dr Tunji Abayom has picked holes with the submission of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo that he would continue with the policy of President Muhammadu Buhari if elected president in 2023.
Abayomi, in an interview with Westernpost on Thursday, said Nigerians expect the year 2023 to be a turning point for the country and the end to their long sufferings.
According to the constitutional lawyer, the 2023 general election should be a turning point that would make the burden of Nigerians lighter and not to continue in hunger, poverty, unemployment and insecurity that have ravaged the country.
He warned that if Osinbajo intends to continue with the policies of President Buhari, then Nigerians should be wary of his ascension to the Presidency.
He said: “Let us be intuitive, truthful and sincere in our judgment. Please tell me another story not about the rule of law. In the history of the Nigerian nation, this is the first government that invaded the home and privacy of judges of the Supreme Court viet armis (with force of arms.)
“The vice president is a senior lawyer. I heard no complaint, concern or reprimand or apology from him until this very moment.
“So, if the vice president now wishes to continue with the policies of President Buhari as he proclaimed in his declaration to run for President, then the Nigerian judiciary, as well as the nation, must be ready for more embarrassing days.”
He urged Nigerians to be careful in voting their next president, saying they should avoid those that will continue with policies that have negative impacts on people.
