A Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, on Tuesday discharged singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, of any involvement in the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.
Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje, acting on legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), ruled that the Marlian Music boss had no case to answer.
Similarly, the court also freed music promoter Samson Eletu, aka Sam Larry; Owodunni Ibrahim, aka Primeboy; and Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde.
However, the DPP recommended the prosecution of auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe and one of Mohbad’s friends, Ayobami Sadiq, for reckless and negligent acts, contrary to Section 251(e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law.
Their trial is set to continue at the Magistrate Court.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that sparked widespread controversy and public outcry.
