Lepe Ajibade has been arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti by the Ekiti State Police Command over allegations of obstructing police officers and the presentation of a suspected stolen vehicle.

As relayed by the prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, Ajibade allegedly obstructed ASP Jegede Raphael and his team while performing their lawful duties on March 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

He further disclosed that the defendant allegedly presented a copy of an affidavit for the change of ownership of a Lexus IS 350 car, with registration number ASB 883 AJ, and chassis number JTHCE5C21B5001008, on the same day, which was reasonably suspected to be stolen.

He said the offences contravene sections 187(a) & (f), 345, 373(i)(e), and 376(I) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

In his defense, Ajibade’s counsel, Barrister T. E. Omotosho, requested that his client be granted bail, assuring the court that he would not jump bail. However, this was opposed by the prosecuting counsel, claiming that the defendant might abscond if released.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted Ajibade bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties of a similar sum, adding that one of the sureties must be a civil servant at grade level 10 with a two-year tax clearance certificate.

The case was adjourned to March 19, 2026, for hearing.
