Court orders Instablog9ja to reveal identity in suit filed by Adunni Ade

The High Court of Ogun State has ordered Instablog9ja to reveal the identity of the person behind its Instagram account following a defamation suit filed by Nollywood actress Adunni Ade against the popular blog.

The actress announced the development via her Instagram page on Friday, sharing a court document with the caption, “Update on court case Adunni Adewale vs Instablog9ja. Court orders Instablog to reveal its identity”.

According to the court document from the High Court of Ogun State, Iseri/Ojodu Abiodun Judicial Division, the case, marked Suit No. HCO/297/2026, was heard on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, before Hon. Justice A. A. Babawale.

The case is between Adunni Adewale as the applicant and “Unknown Person trading under the name and style of @instablog9ja on Instagram” as the respondent.

During the proceedings, counsel to the respondent, Ayodeji Fasehun, told the court that he was not aware that his client had been served, adding that he had only received the court processes two days earlier.

Fasehun told the court that he intended to file an application seeking to disclose the identity of the respondent.

However, the court ordered that the respondent’s response should already disclose the name of the person behind the account.

The matter was adjourned to August 31, 2026, for mention.
