Court remands alleged killers of Facebook lover in Ilorin

A magistrate court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday, remanded the acclaimed Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Bello, who allegedly killed a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin.
The Magistrate, Sanusi B. Mohammed, who presided over the matter, adjourned the case until March 6, 2025.
The suspect, Abdulrahman Bello, who was arraigned alongside five other suspects, was not represented by counsel.
They were accused of a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, possession of human parts, and armed robbery.
The offences are contrary to sections 97, 221 of the Penal Code Law, section 2 of the Kwara State (Prohibition Law) of Dealing in Human Parts, Law 4 of 2018, and section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act CAP R11, Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the acclaimed Islamic cleric allegedly committed the crime with his co-accused as accomplices.
Arraigned along with Abdulrahman Bello are:
- Ahmed Abdulwasiu, 41 years, Islamic Scholar, Zone C, No. 47, Adualere Area, Ilorin.
- Suleiman Muhyideen, 28 years, Neolife Business, No. 7, Adualere Area, Amilengbe.
- Jamiu Uthman, 29 years, Phone Repairer, Adualere Area, Ilorin.
- Abdulrahmon Jamiu, 31 years, Farmer, Elemere Village via Malete Town.
All of Kwara State, with others still at large.
The charge sheet added that, “During the course of investigation at the State CID, Ilorin, you, Abdulrahman Bello (male), were indicted and confessed to have committed the act with the consent and knowledge of the following persons: Ahmed Abdulwasiu, Suleiman Muhyideen, Jamiu Uthman, and Abdulrahmon Jamiu, all males, who were all part of the same occultic group. This led to their arrest.”
“Investigation conducted at the State CID, Ilorin, revealed that you, Abdulrahman Bello, Ahmed Abdulwasiu, Suleiman Muhyideen, Jamiu Uthman, Abdulrahmon Jamiu, and others at large, criminally conspired to kill the victim for ritual purposes and equally robbed her of her jewelry and other valuables.”
“Further investigation conducted at the State CID, Ilorin, revealed that you, Abdulrahman Jamiu, Ahmed Abdulwasiu, Suleiman Muhyideen, Jamiu Uthman, Abdulrahmon Jamiu, and others at large are part of the syndicate that has been killing unsuspecting citizens of Kwara for ritual purposes.”
“On 14-02-2025 at about 1400hrs, the above-captioned case was transferred from ‘C’ Divisional Headquarters, Oja-Oba, Ilorin, and referred to the Anti-Robbery Section, State CID, Ilorin, for discreet investigation.”
“On 11-02-2025, about 1800hrs, one Adefalu Lawal Ibrahim (male) of No. 17, Adefalu Compound, Oju-Ekun Area, Ilorin, reported at ‘C’ Division, Oja-Oba, Ilorin, that on 10-02-2025, at about 1400hrs, his daughter, Adefalu Hasfat Yetunde (female), left for her friend’s house, who was having a ceremony for her new baby at the same address.
“Thereafter, he discovered that his daughter did not return, and her mother contacted some of her friends who went to the occasion with her. They responded that she went elsewhere after the event.
“At this juncture, he called her severally, but her phone rang with no response. He then reported the case to the Police.
“The said phone was tracked and traced to one Abdulrahman Bello (male) of opposite Rain Oil, Majeasura, Olunlade Area, Ilorin, which led to his arrest.
“Upon your arrest, you, Abdulrahman Bello (male), voluntarily confessed to having killed the said Adefalu Hasfat Yetunde (female) and cut her body into pieces for ritual purposes. Your confessional statement led to the recovery of some parts of the victim’s body in your house, while other parts were recovered where you had dumped them.
“Investigation further revealed that you, Abdulrahman Bello (male), robbed the deceased of her jewelry and other valuables, which were recovered in your room.”
