COWLSO honours women at 25th conference with cash, car, travel rewards

The 25th National Women’s Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) came to a colourful close on Thursday night at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with several lucky participants emerging winners of exciting prizes, including a brand-new GAC pickup, a new home, and a ₦20 million cash reward.

Themed “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation,” the silver jubilee edition of the conference celebrated COWLSO’s long-standing commitment to empowering women, transforming families, and strengthening communities. The event brought together women from across Lagos and beyond to reflect on a quarter century of progress and chart new pathways for female leadership and impact.

The highlight of the gala night was the announcement of a ₦20 million prize to Mrs. Florence Obayomi-Davies, a staff member of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

Other star prize winners included Mrs. Olusola Oduguwa, a retired Permanent Secretary and pensioner, who won a new home, and Ms. Thelma Abidemi Madume, a staff member of Coker Aguda LCDA, who went home with a brand-new GAC pickup truck. Additionally, Mrs. Adekemi Folorunsho and Mrs. Ayisat Yebode each won return tickets to Ghana, while Mrs. Oluwatoyin Bolanle Falade received a return ticket to London.

In his closing remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded COWLSO for its enduring legacy and described the 25-year milestone as not just a celebration of achievements but a renewal of purpose dedicated to uplifting women and inspiring future generations.

“Over the past few days, we have not only celebrated a legacy, we have renewed a movement,” Sanwo-Olu said. “We have reflected on twenty-five years of purpose, passion, and progress. Together, we have envisioned the next generation of women who will carry this legacy forward.”

The Governor also paid tribute to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, OON, CON, who revitalized COWLSO during her tenure as First Lady of Lagos State, and commended the current Chairperson, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for sustaining the vision and expanding its impact across the state and nation.

Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to God for the success of the conference, describing it as a true celebration of women’s strength and resilience. She appreciated the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for her virtual participation and goodwill message, while urging participants to apply the lessons from the conference in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
