CP Ohagwu assumes duty as 47th commissioner of police in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of CP Felix Ohagwu as the 47th commissioner of police in the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, the command said CP Ohagwu took over from his predecessor, CP Adebowale Lawal, following his posting by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of strategic efforts to strengthen internal security and enhance policing across the country.

The new commissioner of police is described as a seasoned officer with over three decades of experience in crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, public safety management and operational coordination, having served in various capacities across Nigeria.

Upon assuming office, CP Ohagwu pledged to consolidate existing security structures in Ondo State while prioritising the protection of lives and property through proactive policing strategies, intelligence gathering and community engagement.

He also assured that under his leadership, the command would uphold transparency, accountability, respect for human rights and professionalism in line with global best policing standards.

Ohagwu expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him and commended the outgoing Commissioner, CP Adebowale Lawal, for his contributions to peace and stability in the state.

The statement added that the command would strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders to strengthen public safety across Ondo State.

Residents were urged to support the police with timely and credible information to aid crime prevention efforts.
