Customers stranded as FCMB banking operation collapses

Thousands of customers were on Friday stranded Infront of many branches of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) as the bank experienced a downtime in its operations.

For many who tried using the banks online platforms and apps, their transactions declined or were reversed as the bank server remained down as of the time of filing in this report.

The bank in a notice to customers title;, “Temporary Service Unavailability on our Platforms” said: “We are aware that you may have experienced a service failure on our platforms this morning.

“This is a result of an ongoing technical enhancement which we are putting in place to ensure you enjoy seamless transactions without interruptions in the long term.

“This may cause some disruptions for a few hours, which our technology team are working hard to resolve.  We will update you as soon as our channels become available for your use.

“We greatly apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you sincerely for choosing FCMB.”
