Dance does not stop my work — Adeleke hits back at critics

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday said his critics were jealous of his dancing because they could not dance, insisting that his hobby had never affected his performance in office.

Adeleke spoke at the Arise News Town Hall in Osogbo, where he defended his public dancing, saying it was part of his family’s culture, which he described as having “music in our blood”.

According to him, dancing and governance were separate, stressing that he remained serious and prudent when carrying out his official responsibilities.

“I’m dancing, I’m working. You need to see me when I’m working. When you come to my office, I’m a prudent person and I’m a very serious person. There is time to dance and there is time to work. My dancing is a hobby that does not affect my work. Go and fact-check; you will know how much work I have done. So they are jealous because they cannot dance. If they want, I will teach them how to dance. But dance does not stop my work,” he said.

Adeleke also accused former Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of still being affected by his defeat, alleging that he was using his relationship with President Bola Tinubu in the affairs of Osun State.

He further alleged that Accord Party members had been arrested and accused federal authorities of using their powers to intimidate people in the state.

The governor questioned why people would be arrested if those behind such actions were confident of winning the election, alleging the use of “federal might” to intimidate Osun residents.

Adeleke expressed confidence in victory in Saturday’s governorship election, saying no amount of intimidation would stop the people of Osun State from making their choice.
