Dangote Group strengthens place as top employer in new expansion drive

The Dangote Group says its aggressive expansion across Nigeria and other parts of Africa is increasingly positioning the conglomerate as a major driver of employment and industrial growth on the continent.

The company made this known in a statement issued by its corporate affairs unit and shared with journalists in Lokoja, where it outlined how ongoing investments are reshaping its operations and workforce structure.

According to the company, new investments across its business divisions are not only strengthening production capacity but also opening up fresh job opportunities in multiple sectors of the economy.

The Regional Director and Special Adviser to the President of Dangote Group, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, said the expansion is already triggering the creation of new roles across the company’s business units.

She explained that as projects scale up, more skilled and semi-skilled workers are being absorbed, especially in core sectors such as cement, agriculture, energy, and manufacturing.

A major highlight of the group’s expansion plan is the ongoing upgrade of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which is expected to significantly boost employment during its construction phase as capacity increases from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels.

Wali-Abdurrahman also pointed to agricultural investments, particularly the Nasarawa Sugar Company Limited, describing it as one of the group’s most strategic backward integration projects with strong potential for job creation when fully operational.

She added that the Dangote Group’s Vision 2030 agenda is centered on transforming Africa’s economic structure from consumption-based dependence to large-scale production, with Nigeria serving as a key industrial hub.

Stakeholders in Nasarawa State and industry observers have welcomed the expansion drive, noting that it could strengthen local supply chains, deepen industrialisation, and create wider opportunities for small and medium-scale enterprises linked to the group’s operations.
