Davido alleges plot to deregister Accord Party ahead of Osun governorship election
Nigerian singer, Davido, has alleged that there are plans to deregister the Accord ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The artiste, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, recently defected to the Accord Party, made the allegation in a post shared on his X handle on Thursday.
Davido questioned the motive behind the alleged move, insisting that political parties should be allowed to test their popularity at the polls rather than being sidelined through administrative actions.
“Deregister Accord Party for what? Cowards, let’s go to the field,” the singer wrote.
His reaction came barely 48 hours after he accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State governor, Gboyega Oyetola, of allegedly plotting against the Accord Party ahead of the governorship election.
Governor Adeleke had in December 2025 resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party amid the party’s leadership crisis and legal disputes before joining the Accord Party to seek re-election.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026, with political activities already intensifying across the state.
