Defections, Tinubu’s performance signal APC victory in Osun — Oyintiloye

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said that the achievements of President Bola Tinubu and APC governors have boosted the party’s chances of winning the August 8 governorship election in the state.

Oyintiloye who spoke on Sunday in Osogbo, added that the achievements of the party’s past administration in the state would play a key role in securing victory for the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the forthcoming poll.

The former lawmaker noted that Tinubu’s leadership has made the ruling party more attractive to politicians in other parties, who now prefer the APC to other platforms.

According to him, the recent defection of five federal lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties into the APC fold is another pointer to the party’s expected victory in the election.

Oyintiloye further said the defections and the endorsement of the president for a second term in office are indications that the people of the state support the APC and are ready to return it to power in the August 8 governorship election.

He described Oyebamiji as competent, reliable and a promise keeper, adding, “The people of the state are yearning for the return of good governance through the APC, and by August 8, their wishes will be fulfilled.”

The APC chieftain also commended the party leader in the state, Gboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, saying he has been working with other leaders to sustain the strength of the party despite not being in government.

Oyintiloye appealed to residents not to be deceived by what he described as campaigns of calumny against the APC by other parties, urging opposition members interested in joining the party to take a cue from the defecting lawmakers.
