Democracy Day: Activists protest over hardship

Some activists have stormed the Ikeja underbridge on Wednesday to protest against the current state of the economy, as the country marks the 2024 Democracy Day.
According to reports, there was heavy security presence, as policemen and officials of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps were sighted at the venue.

The protesters, in their number, chanted solidarity songs as they wielded placards and banners.
Some of the placards had inscriptions like: ‘President Tinubu, let the poor breathe’, ‘Reverse all anti-people, Neoliberal policies of privatisation’ ‘Pay living wage to all Nigerian workers now.

In the same vein, in Abuja, aggrieved Nigerians also gathered under the Berger Bridge to protest against the hunger and economic hardship.
