Deputy Governor Adewusi endorses 2024 Osun Intercollegiate Games

The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, has given his full endorsement to the upcoming Osun State Intercollegiate Games 2024.
This highly anticipated event, scheduled to run from November 20 to December 4, will be held at two prominent venues: the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Sports Complex in Ile-Ife and the Federal Polytechnic Ede Sports Complex in Ede.
As both the Deputy Governor and the state’s Commissioner for Sports, Prince Adewusi is a passionate advocate for youth empowerment through sports. In his endorsement speech, he underscored the importance of the Intercollegiate Games as a transformative platform that promotes unity, uncovers emerging talents, and strengthens relationships between Osun State’s higher institutions.
“The Osun Intercollegiate Games is a fantastic initiative aimed at uniting our higher institutions through healthy competition,” Adewusi stated. “This event promotes physical fitness and builds camaraderie and resilience among our young talents. My office will ensure all necessary resources are provided to make this event a success.”
The games’ organizers, Ace Sports, have been praised for their meticulous preparations. During a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor, Olayiwola Olafiranye, Team Lead of Ace Sports, expressed the team’s commitment to creating an exceptional experience.
“We are thrilled about the 2024 edition of the Osun Intercollegiate Games. Our team has been working tirelessly to ensure everything, from logistics to infrastructure, is in place,” Olafiranye said.
He acknowledged the critical support from the state government, adding, “We deeply appreciate the ongoing support from the Osun State Government and Deputy Governor Adewusi, whose dedication to youth and sports development is inspiring.”
Ace Sports’ Chief Operating Officer, Olayinka Olawole, shared further details about the event, which will feature six sports: athletics, football, chess, scrabble, badminton, tug of war, and table tennis. “We aim to provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and compete for glory,” Olawole stated.
Olawole also emphasized the need for broad support to make the event successful, calling on corporate sponsors, alumni associations, and sports enthusiasts to lend their support. “These games belong to all of us. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our youth and invest in the future of Osun State. Together, we can make this event a memorable success,” he added.
Highlighting the broader significance of the event, Ibrahim Akinokun, Head of Logistics for the games, described it as a celebration of culture, resilience, and unity.
“The Osun Intercollegiate Games 2024 will be more than a sporting competition—it will leave a lasting impact on Osun State’s sporting landscape,” Akinokun noted.
He extended his gratitude to Prince Adewusi for his unwavering support, adding that the success of the games will be a testament to the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders.
With strong backing from the state government and the dedication of its organizers, the Osun Intercollegiate Games 2024 is set to become a historic event that fosters sportsmanship, cultural pride, and community spirit.
