Dikko applauds Bukola Olopade’s appointment as NSC DG

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Hon. Bukola Olopade as the Director-General and Secretary of the NSC.

Dikko described the appointment as a significant step forward for Nigerian sports, emphasizing the wealth of experience and energy that Hon. Olopade brings to the Commission.

On Thursday, the Presidency announced Hon. Bukola Olopade’s appointment to the dual roles of Director-General and Secretary of the National Sports Commission.

Olopade, who also serves as the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the upcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State, scheduled for January 2025, brings extensive expertise to the position.

He is a former two-term Commissioner of Youth and Sports in Ogun State and has substantial private sector experience in advancing sports development in Nigeria. He is expected to work closely with Chairman Dikko to drive the Commission’s initiatives and strengthen Nigerian sports.

Dikko praised Olopade’s proven track record and dedication, stating that his involvement will bring added value and innovation to the nation’s sports sector.

He expressed delight at having Olopade on board, referring to him as a longtime friend and collaborator with whom he shares a vision to elevate Nigerian sports.

“This is the best time for Nigerian sports to move forward within the framework of the Renewed Hope agenda,” Dikko stated.

“All stakeholders must appreciate and congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for appointing two like minds to lead the charge.”
