Diogo Jota’s funeral will be held at 4 p.m. today (Friday), just a day after he and his brother were killed in a fiery road accident.

According to The Mail, the service will take place in São Cosme, in his home city of Porto, northern Portugal — where just two weeks ago, the 28-year-old married his childhood sweetheart, Rute, in a Catholic ceremony attended by family and friends.

On Thursday afternoon, hearses were seen arriving at a funeral home in the Spanish town of Puebla de Sanabria, northwestern Spain, where their bodies were taken following the crash.

Tributes have continued to pour in for the 28-year-old Liverpool and Portuguese forward after the tragic accident that claimed his life and that of his brother early Thursday.

Former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Portuguese national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo led the pack of global football stars mourning the late Jota.

In addition to individual tributes, football clubs have also expressed their condolences, with Liverpool and Manchester United among those mourning the sudden and tragic loss of the striker.
