Dispatch rider nabbed for selling customer’s iPhones worth N1.7 million

Lagos State Police’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have nabbed one Matthew Odah, 27, a delivery rider, for selling three iPhones valued at N1.7 million entrusted to him for delivery.
The RRS disclosed this development in a post via its official X handle on Sunday.
According to the statement, Odah, on August 23, 2023, while working as a dispatch rider, received for delivery to a customer in Lekki, one iPhone 14 ProMax and two iPhones 11.
Odah, on collecting the consignment, would bolt off, while making himself unreachable via phone or contact details.
Upon report of the missing items, a thorough and covert investigation was launched, leading to his apprehension at Lemon Bus Stop, Alpha Beach, Lagos.
The dispatch rider after his arrest, alongside the buyers of the now stolen items, admitted to selling the iPhones for a combined sum of N300,000.
The post which carried a picture of the main suspect, read in part It, “The suspect confessed to having sold the three iPhones in Obalende for N300,000.
“Also arrested with him were the two buyers, while one of the iPhones was recovered.
“Suspects are to be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations.”
