Disregard call for resumption on Monday, NULGE tells Osun LG workers

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Osun State Chapter, has directed its members to ignore any call to resume work on Monday, October 6, 2025, insisting that no such directive has been issued by the union.
Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo on Friday, the State President of NULGE, Comrade (Dr.) Nathaniel Kehinde Ogungbangbe, dismissed the resumption notice reportedly issued by a group called Concerned Local Government Workers, describing the group as unregistered and politically motivated.
Ogungbangbe accused the group of being sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to destabilize the state, stating that its leaders were no longer members of the union, having been suspended indefinitely for anti-union activities.
He said, “These self-centered and parochial people are being paid for this demonic job, and that is why they have not relented in calling for the resumption of duties by our members in order to satisfy their paymasters.”
“These unscrupulous elements were there when the APC was ruling the state for 12 years without promotion. The party introduced half salaries in Osun State and brought aberrations like Council Manager and Head of Department into our service, which are not in tandem with our Scheme of Service, but they were not concerned at that time.”
The union leader also advised members to disregard the information that there would be a screening exercise.
“It is highly consequential to note that the State NULGE Executives have not directed our members to resume work, and no screening can be done in the Local Government Service without the supervision of the Osun State Local Government Service Commission, Osogbo.”
Ogungbangbe urged all local government workers across the state to remain at home until further notice, stressing that the union would not relent in resisting attempts to expose its members to danger.
