Popular Nigerian content creator, Ademola Abiodun, better known as DJ Chicken, has been arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, over alleged threats to kill Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.
DJ Chicken was reportedly apprehended in Ikeja and taken to the police headquarters, according to his lawyer, Rotimi Stephens, who raised the alarm in an Instagram post on Thursday and appealed to the Presidency to forgive his client.
The defendant appeared before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi on Friday on three counts bordering on alleged threats to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and violation of the Cybercrimes Act. The charges stemmed from a now-deleted video in which he allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.
“Tinubu, you cannot win. If you enter, I will kill Seyi Tinubu. I will not say more than that,” DJ Chicken allegedly said in the video before later claiming it was a joke intended to gain fame.
Despite the retraction, the prosecution charged him with threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu, posting a grossly offensive and menacing message contrary to the Cybercrimes Act, and engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, subject to conditions including tax clearance, LASRRA identification, National Identification Number (NIN), utility bills and a blood relative as one of the sureties.
Pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, Magistrate Onamusi ordered that DJ Chicken be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned until August 3, 2026.
