Don’t distract Tinubu with 2027 ambition, APC chieftain warns politicians

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged politicians to refrain from distracting President Bola Tinubu with talks about the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye described the rising wave of early political scheming as misplaced, especially when the nation is grappling with economic and security challenges.
He noted that President Tinubu inherited a troubled economy in 2023, with a high debt profile, a volatile naira, and unsustainable fuel subsidy spending.
“Through his technocratic background, he has rekindled hope that many Nigerians had lost,” Oyintiloye said. “His bold steps, including removing fuel subsidy and collapsing multiple exchange rates, are now yielding positive results.”
The former lawmaker decried the growing scramble for political positions ahead of 2027, warning that such distractions could derail the president’s reform agenda.
“It is worrisome that some politicians are already scheming for 2027, including the office of the Vice President, instead of focusing on national security, economic revival, and infrastructure development,” he said.
Oyintiloye added that what the president needs now is collective support, prayers, and solidarity—not an unnecessary power struggle over 2027 and beyond.
