Don’t incite Nigerians against FG, APC chieftain warns politicians

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has cautioned politicians against making inflammatory statements that could incite violent protests against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Oyintiloye, a member of the now-defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, stated that any politician exploiting the current temporary hardship in the country to incite unrest should be regarded as an enemy of the nation.

Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday, he emphasized that President Tinubu requires prayers and support to stabilize the economy, rather than inflammatory comments that could lead to public unrest.

Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, encouraged a collaborative approach toward finding lasting solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenges, rather than resorting to inciteful statements.

He noted that the president is doing everything possible to turn the economy around and stressed that it would be unpatriotic for anyone, no matter how highly placed, to incite the masses into protest.

He called on security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure that anyone attempting to incite the masses and cause havoc in the country is brought to justice.

His words: “There is no doubt that the economy is not in its best shape, but this is just temporary. The president is working tirelessly to ensure that the economy is restored for the benefit of all Nigerians.

“While we await these improvements, inciting the masses against the government is not the solution. I strongly advise those politicians calling for protests to desist or be ready to face the law.”

Oyintiloye appealed to Nigerians to be patient, acknowledging that some of the government’s policies may be harsh at the moment, but predicting that the outcomes would eventually be beneficial for everyone.
