Driver arraigned for allegedly threatening ex-lawmaker Adedapo Lam-Adesina

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 41-year-old driver, Nurudeen Ogunbona, before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly threatening the life of his employer, former lawmaker Adedapo Lam-Adesina.

Ogunbona, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing charges of threat to life and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, the defendant allegedly sent threatening text messages and voice notes to Lam-Adesina in July, warning that he would “deal with him.”

Lam-Adesina represented Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akinloye told the court that the alleged offences occurred at about 10:30 a.m. at the politician’s residence in Alalubosa GRA, Ibadan, and contravened Sections 86 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦250,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relative.

The case was adjourned until December 8 for hearing.
