Economic activities paralysed, schools shut in Owo after Sunday’s terror attack

Economic activities were put on hold in Owo, Ondo State on Monday after Sunday’s attack on St. Francis Catholic Church.

WesternPost earlier reported on Sunday that the attack by the gunmen cost the lives of many, while several people are currently injured and receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre and St. Louis hospitals both in Owo.

Checks by our correspondent revealed that no school opened in the town as a result of the incident.

Markets visited by our correspondent also remained shut.

However, okada men and cab drivers were seen going about their daily activities and fueling stations were working.

The presence of security officials was sighted by our correspondents at the scene of the attack, disallowing people and residents to come close.

Some of the residents of the community described the incident as a sad one.

The number of casualties of the attack and the injured cannot be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Governir Rotimi Akeredolu has urged residents of the town to remain calm.

He assured that the perpetrators of the attack will be caught.
