Economic hardship: Gombe yet to receive FG’s Rice allocation

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has revealed that the state has not yet received its allocated share of rice from the Federal Government, intended for free distribution to alleviate current hardships.

Governor Yahaya made this disclosure on Wednesday, while addressing members of civil society organizations, organized labour, and the Amalgamated Unions of Traders in Gombe State. This engagement is part of his ongoing efforts to consult with key stakeholders ahead of the impending nationwide protest.

In his remarks, the Governor commended the Federal Government’s initiative, which allocated 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the FCT to ease the economic challenges faced by citizens. However, he expressed concern over the delay in receiving these essential supplies in Gombe.

Despite this setback, Governor Yahaya reassured citizens of the state’s commitment to providing relief. He highlighted previous palliative distributions and ongoing investments in human capital development, education, health, and agriculture as part of the state’s efforts to support its residents.

Emphasizing the importance of peaceful and orderly conduct, the Governor acknowledged the crucial role of civil society organizations, labour unions, and traders in maintaining social stability and economic resilience.

He called for continued cooperation and dialogue to collectively navigate these challenging times.
