Edo Police bans officers from searching citizens’ phones

The Edo State Police Command has banned officers from ransacking phones belonging to presumed suspects or offenders.

State Police Commissioner, Funsho Adegboye gave this directive on Thursday in a press statement.

According to the statement, an immediate ban had been placed on searching citizens’ phones by police operatives.

CP Adegboye further warned officers and men of the force to desist from the act, emphasizing that it portrayed a bad image of the Police department.

In the same vein, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has directed Zonal Assistant Inspectors General, Command, and Formation Commissioners of Police to monitor personnel serving under their respective jurisdiction.
