Edo Police investigate Ekpoma incident, withdraw patrol teams

The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal incident in Ekpoma on March 12, 2025, involving a joint security operation team and occupants of an unregistered Mercedes Benz. The encounter led to the death of one Chinedu Obimbor.

Following the incident, Edo State Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, ordered the immediate withdrawal of three patrol teams linked to the case.

In a statement, the commissioner expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, urging the public to remain calm while assuring that justice will be served.

She also directed a full-scale investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the event.

The police command has pledged to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
