The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed the arrest of 30 suspected internet fraudsters during a sting operation carried out within two buildings that had been earlier flagged for suspected internet-related fraud at Agbede Community in Ilorin, Kwara state.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, March 24, 2026, yielded great results. Amongst the thirty suspects, Western Post gathered that six students of Kwara State Polytechnic were included as the authorities have commenced their profiling and documentation.
Furthermore, sources disclosed that all six students are actively involved in internet fraud, adding that eight vehicles suspected to be proceeds of fraud-related activities were recovered from the suspects, alongside mobile phones and laptops.
As contained in a statement signed by the Media and Publicity Officer, Dele Oyewale, the sting operation was not remotely connected to the Polytechnic as no entrance was made into the premises of the institution.
The EFCC, therefore, assured the public of the professionalism and integrity of its operations stressing that the commission will continue to work in the overall interest of Nigerians.
