Muslim clerics in Ekiti State have urged political stakeholders and residents to ensure a peaceful and credible governorship election as political parties intensify preparations for the June 20 poll across the state.
Making the appeal after the 30-day Ramadan fast on Friday, the Chief Missioner of Amadia Muslim Community, Olowomi Toheed, stressed the need for citizens to actively participate in the electoral process.
He advised voters to make informed decisions guided by moral and religious principles, noting that voting is a fundamental right that must be exercised responsibly.
Encouraging Nigerians, Toheeb stressed the need to sustain acts of kindness beyond Ramadan, adding that citizens should not rely solely on government for support.
Similarly, the Chief Imam of Ado-Ekiti, Jamiu Kewulere Bello, called on Muslims to uphold the lessons of Ramadan and continue praying for peace and good governance.
The chief Imam urged Nigerians to remain united, practise the fear of God, and extend their devotion beyond the holy month.
In her remarks, the Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Prof. Abibat Adubiaro, congratulated Muslims on completing Ramadan, encouraging them to sustain values such as love, compassion and selflessness.
She also reassured residents of the government’s commitment to security, noting that Ekiti remains peaceful.
