The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of residents during this year’s Eid-ul-Fitri celebration.
The law enforcement agency stated this on Monday in a statement signed by Civil Defence PRO, DSC Oluwaseun Abolurin.
Eid-el-Fitri, also known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is a significant religious holiday observed by Muslims worldwide, marking the end of Ramadan’s month-long fasting period.
With the holiday around the corner, the Command has deployed 2,000 officers and men across the state to maintain law and order and protect lives and property.
NSCDC Lagos Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, in his remarks, explained that the deployment aligns with the Federal Government’s declaration of April 9 and 10, as public holidays for the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
He stated that officers and men assigned to this task are sourced from various departments, units, divisions, and area commands, strategically placed to ensure safety at critical locations, including national assets, recreational parks, worship centres and other public spaces.
In a message to Muslim faithfuls, Keshinro extended felicitations, emphasizing the importance of peace, love, and unity among citizens.
He also issued a stern warning to criminal elements, especially vandals, urging them to desist from activities that threaten public safety and economic stability.
The Commandant assured the public that NSCDC personnel would remain vigilant and committed throughout the holiday period, fulfilling their statutory duties to guarantee a smooth and peaceful celebration for all.
