In preparation for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,550 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure festive period.

The State Commandant, Commandant Corps (CC) Igbalawole Sotiyo, disclosed this in a statement signed by the Corps’ spokesperson, ASC Kehinde Adeleke. He said officers would be strategically stationed at key locations, including Eid prayer grounds, critical national assets and infrastructure, recreational centres, markets, and other public spaces.

Sotiyo said both covert and overt operatives have been deployed, emphasizing that undercover operatives would be responsible for surveillance and intelligence gathering. He charged officers and men of the command to work in synergy with other sister agencies for a hitch-free celebration.

“We are aware there will be an influx of people into the state; hence, every necessary security arrangement has been put in place to ensure adequate protection of critical infrastructure, prayer grounds, lives and property, marketplaces, and public places,” he stated.

The NSCDC boss warned miscreants and troublemakers who may plan to engage in criminal activities to stay away from the state or be prepared to face the consequences of their actions.

The State Commandant also appealed to members of the public to support security personnel by reporting suspicious movements and individuals to the nearest security agency.

Sotiyo urged Muslim faithful in the state to use the occasion to pray for peace, stability, and the progress of the country. He also advised celebrants to observe the law during the festivities and cautioned travellers to avoid night journeys and speeding.
