Ekiti 2022: INEC clears Oyebanji, Kolawole, Oni, 13 others for guber polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released names of the 16 candidates and their running mates for the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti State.

INEC released the list of qualified candidates for the Ekiti 2022 governorship election in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

The list has Abiodun Oyebanji as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Mrs Afuye Monisade as his running mate.

INEC also published the name of Bisi Kolawole as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Kolawole will fly PDP’s flag alongside Kolapo Kolade.

Former Governor Segun Oni is contesting the election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after dumping the PDP days after losing the governorship primaries to Kolawole.

Oni has James Owolabi as his running mate.

Apart from the three major candidates, 13 others are also contesting from other parties.

The parties are: Accord Party (A), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Action Democratic party (ADP).

Others are All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action People’s Party (APP), Labour Party (LP) and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

National Rescue Movement (NRM), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) are the other parties contesting in the election.
