Ekiti 2026: Fayemi calls for intensified support for Oyebanji’s re-election

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid in 2026.

Fayemi gave the charge at the APC leaders’ annual meeting held at his country home in Isan-Ekiti, stressing that electoral victory requires sustained grassroots engagement, unity, and strategic planning across the state.

He cautioned party members against complacency, noting that despite the achievements recorded by the Oyebanji administration and the apparent weakness of opposition parties, hard work remains essential to secure a landslide victory.

The former governor described Oyebanji as a steady and people-focused leader, urging party faithful to close ranks, step up door-to-door campaigns, and consistently project the administration’s achievements.

Fayemi said the party must approach the June 20, 2026 governorship election with renewed energy, adding that every political party should be taken seriously regardless of its current strength.

In his remarks, Oyebanji thanked Fayemi and party leaders for their continued support, saying unity, loyalty, and collective responsibility would be crucial to sustaining the gains of his administration.

He urged APC members to remain peaceful, united, and focused on grassroots mobilisation, expressing confidence that a cohesive party would secure victory at the polls.
