Ekiti 2026: PDP confident of defeating Oyebanji, says campaign team

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The campaign organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the June 20, 2026, election in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious at the polls.
The Director-General of the Wole Oluyede Campaign Council, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, said the PDP candidate would overcome all challenges and defeat the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with other contenders.
Ogundipe made the remarks in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday by the campaign’s Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi.
He said Oluyede remained focused on reclaiming power for the PDP despite what he described as attempts by political opponents and vested interests to frustrate his ambition.
The campaign dismissed concerns arising from the court ruling that nullified the PDP primary election, noting that the party had filed an appeal and applied for a stay of execution.
Ogundipe added that the legal steps taken would allow the campaign to continue, insisting that claims suggesting the PDP was out of the race were unfounded.
He described the June 20 governorship election as a contest between the people of Ekiti and the present administration, urging party supporters to remain united.
The campaign expressed optimism that Oluyede’s name would be restored to the ballot, maintaining that the PDP candidate would participate in the election and secure victory.
