Ekiti 2026: PDP leaders warn against moves to overturn governorship primary

By Boye Oyeyemi, Ado-Ekiti –

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State have expressed concern over alleged secret plans by some members to overturn the result of the governorship primary that produced Dr Wole Oluyede as the party’s candidate.

Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Hon. Deji Ogunsakin accused certain individuals of “working hand-in-hand with opposition elements” to create disunity within the party.

“We have received conflicting information about moves to destroy the Ekiti PDP from within. The primaries were conducted transparently and credibly by the Ekiti people, but some people are plotting to alter the results after the conclusion.”

Ogunsakin explained that the ward and local congresses earlier conducted by Senator Abdul Ningi were peaceful before “some individuals went behind to manipulate it.”

He said the governorship primary, supervised by Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, was credible and free of irregularities.

Former state chairman of the PDP, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, urged the national leadership to defend the integrity of the primary, saying, “Anyone who loves PDP and Ekiti State must rise now. Dr. Oluyede is our candidate, and he will win this election.”

Also, ex-lawmaker Hon. Segun Adekola described Oluyede as a credible choice and warned against tampering with the outcome.

He said the PDP was now better positioned to reclaim power, adding, “The moment we elected Dr Oluwole Oluyede, even the APC knew the game had changed.”
