Ekiti applauds FG for award of key road projects

The Ekiti State Government has commended the Federal Government for awarding contracts for the construction of two major road projects in the state.

The Federal Executive Council, during its meeting on Monday, approved the construction of the Ado-Ekiti-Ifaki-Ikole-Omuo-Kogi border road and the Ado-ABUAD-Ijan-Ilumoba road, bringing relief to residents who have endured poor road conditions for years.

In a recent statement, the state government welcomed the decision, asseting that it marks the culmination of extensive efforts to secure the projects.

“Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has been actively engaging with federal agencies and National Assembly committees to address the infrastructural challenges. His frequent visits to Abuja in recent weeks have been pivotal in the approval process,” it read.

The state government also noted that this development reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to supporting Ekiti’s growth and aligns with ongoing works on the Ado-Ikere-Akure road, which is nearing completion.

In anticipation of the roadworks, the state government urged motorists and residents to remain patient during the construction period, acknowledging that some temporary inconveniences may occur.

Reiterating its commitment to improving infrastructure and the overall welfare of its people, the Ekiti State Government pledged to continue partnering with federal institutions, agencies, and private entities to drive socio-economic progress in the state as part of its shared prosperity agenda.
