Ekiti: AU envoy Owonifari accuses Senator Adaramodu, Hon. Ojuawo of poor representation

By Boye Oyeyemi –

An African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 Ambassador, Tosin Michael Owonifari, has criticised Senator Adeyemi Adaramodu and Hon. Ojuawo Rufus (AVM rtd.) over what he described as a lack of visible federal projects in the Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

In an open letter dated November 11, 2025, Owonifari said it was disappointing that despite more than a decade of combined representation by both lawmakers, Ise-Orun had yet to benefit from any major federal initiative or institution.

He expressed concern that while the Senate discussed establishing an Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Centre in Omuo-Ekiti, Ise-Orun continued to be sidelined in developmental plans.

“Both of you are the elected voices of our people at the National Assembly. Your positions carry influence and responsibility. Yet after more than ten years of combined representation, our community remains without a single major federal presence, institution or transformative project that we can proudly point to,” he stated.

Owonifari accused Adaramodu of failing to attract projects during his years in the House of Representatives and the Senate, while also faulting Ojuawo’s record despite his current role as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Air Force.

He urged both lawmakers to hold a town hall meeting to explain their achievements and challenges, saying, “Present your record. Explain what you have done. Explain what you attempted and what you could not achieve. Publish your efforts. Let the community see the full picture.”

The AU envoy appealed to them to use their platforms to attract meaningful projects to Ise-Orun, adding that the community had the resources and talent for growth but lacked proactive representation.
