Ekiti govt assures on security, infrastructure in 2026 budget talks

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Ekiti State Government has restated its resolve to make security and infrastructure the centrepiece of its 2026 budget, promising that no community will be left out of development projects.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji gave the assurance at a stakeholders’ town hall meeting in Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti South Senatorial District, where traditional rulers, community leaders and various associations presented their inputs.

“These engagements are central to our budgeting process because our vision is to ensure that development in Ekiti is people-centred and reflective of the real needs of our communities.

By listening to our people and incorporating their voices into policy and planning, we are building a state where everyone has a stake in governance.

This is the foundation of the trust, confidence, and massive support our administration continues to enjoy across the state,” Oyebanji said.

He listed road repairs, water projects, electricity supply and grassroots security as priorities for next year, disclosing that 365 boreholes were already being worked on with a second phase set to begin soon.

On security, the governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving an army barracks in Ikere-Ekiti, expected to host 800 personnel, adding, “By next year, the barracks should be ready… we will be able to secure our borders effectively and end kidnapping in Ekiti.”
