Ekiti labour unions mobilise members ahead of NLC rally

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Labour unions in Ekiti State have begun mobilising their members ahead of the nationwide rally against insecurity, directed by the national headquarters of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Several unions have issued internal memos and press statements to sensitise workers on preparations for the protest, scheduled for 17 December 2025.
The planned rally is expected to disrupt economic activities in the state, as workers may withdraw their services to participate.
Chairpersons of unions affiliated with the NLC confirmed that they had received directives from their respective national bodies to mobilise members.
They stated that the rally would proceed as planned unless a contrary directive comes from the NLC national leadership.
Union leaders emphasised that insecurity has worsened across the country, leaving citizens increasingly vulnerable.
They appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive steps to address the security challenges, highlighting their negative impact on the nation’s social and economic wellbeing.
