Ekiti moves to enhance operational capacity of Amotekun corps

The Ekiti State Government has reiterated its commitment to enhancing the operational capacity of local security outfits in the state, including Amotekun Corps.
Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the move was aimed at combating crime, protecting the agricultural sector and rural communities, and addressing security concerns related to open grazing, thereby helping to reduce farmers-herders conflicts.
Olatunbosun, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, said the ongoing three-week training programme organised by the Ekiti State Government for 500 newly recruited officers of the Amotekun Corps, Anti-Grazing and Agro-Marshal Corps was part of the efforts to enhance their operational capacity.
The commissioner said the main objective of the training programme at the National Youths Service Corps Orientation Ground at Emure/Ise/Orun “is to equip the newly recruited personnel with the required skills for the effective discharge of their duties.
“The training will include both theoretical and practical activities, including practical exercises, teamwork, adaptivity, technical proficiency and physical fitness focusing on critical aspects of community policing and security operations.
“The training underscores the state government’s dedication to enhancing the operational capacity of local security outfits. I urge the newly recruited officers to adequately prepare for the training programme by arriving on time to facilitate a seamless orientation process,” he said.
According to the commissioner, the orientation programme, which began on Sunday, would end on Friday, July 25, 2025.
