Ekiti: PDP governorship aspirant alleges manipulation of delegate list

By Boye Oyeyemi, Ado-Ekiti –

A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Mrs Funmilayo Theresa Ogun, has accused some party leaders of manipulating the delegate list ahead of the 2026 primary election.

Ogun, who addressed journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, described the list released by the party as “a product of impunity”, claiming it had been altered to sideline her supporters across several wards.

She alleged that authentic delegates who participated in the October 20 ad hoc congresses, observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, were replaced with individuals who neither purchased nomination forms nor attended the congress.

“We were all at the party secretariat when the ad hoc congress was conducted on October 20. INEC officials were present and observed the process. Names were submitted to the panel led by Senator Onyeghi, and everything went smoothly,” she said.

The aspirant, who hails from Orin-Ekiti, said her name was completely removed from the delegate list in her ward, alleging that some leaders feared her growing popularity within the party.

She urged the INEC Chairman, Prof. Ojo Amupitan, not to recognise any primary conducted with what she called a “doctored list”, warning that such actions would undermine internal democracy.

Also speaking, the PDP Local Government Chairmen’s Chairman, Aare Oluyemi Ajanaku, described the development as “shameful and worrisome”, calling on the party’s national leadership to restore the authentic delegate list before the primary.
