Ekiti poll to gauge APC’s strength ahead of 2027 – Gov Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has described the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election as a major test of the All Progressives Congress’ political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sani made the remark on Sunday upon arrival at the Ado-Ekiti Airport, where he led activities as chairman of the APC Governorship Campaign Council for the poll.

The election, scheduled for June 20, is expected to feature candidates from 13 political parties across the state.

According to the governor, the outcome of the contest will serve as a reflection of the ruling party’s acceptance under President Bola Tinubu, noting that, “The result of the Ekiti governorship election will show the level of support the APC enjoys under the current leadership at the national level.”

Sani equally expressed optimism that the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, would secure victory based on his administration’s performance, indicating that, “Governor Oyebanji has delivered on his mandate. From infrastructure to education and youth development, his impact is visible, and the people are aware.”

He further added that the election would likely reaffirm public support for continuity.

“This election, for me, is merely a confirmation of the good work already done, and I believe the people will stand by him,” said the party chieftain.

According to reliable sources, Sani was received by a delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye, and was later accompanied to the Government House alongside key political figures, including Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
