Ekiti to gift 90,000 cashew seedling to farmers

Ekiti State Government is set to distribute 90,000 cashew seedlings to farmers across the towns and villages in the state free of charge.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Footd Security, Dr Olabode Adetoyi made this known while featuring on a live radio programme, “S’etigbo?” which was aired simultaneously on Ekiti Fm , Progress Fm, Voice Fm, Ayoba Fm, Our Peoples Fm and New Cruise Fm.
Dr Adetoyi who explained that 42 selected youths had been trained on cashew production, said that various investors had been attracted to invest in agribusiness in Ekiti.
He pointed out that government also invested in commercial agriculture and public private partnership to boost food production and reduce unemployment rate in the state.
While speaking on other areas which could be more beneficial to the people, the commissioner said that government had set up Out -Grower Scheme and enjoined interested youths to visit the ministry in order to take advantage of the programme.
Dr Adetoyi who maintained that Governor Kayode Fayemi’s investment in agriculture had yeilded a lot of benefits, observed that over one hundred and fifty thousand litres of milk was being produced on monthly basis in Ikun Dairy Farm.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Chief Niyi Ojo said there was no iota of truth in the rumour making the round that Governor Fayemi took N3 billion loan.
Chief Ojo promised that the present administration would complete all the ongoing projects and defray all the salary arrears before the end of Governor Fayemi’s tenure in office.
While speaking on women’s welfare, the Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Mrs Mary Omotosho emphasized that the Dr Fayemi led administration had made necessary legislations that protect women’s rights and their interests.
Mrs Omotosho noted that women were now involved in governance and policy making process both at state and local government levels and sought the cooperation for administration of Governor Fayemi in order to sustain the good work.
